difference between mk1 and mk2

i still don't know the difference between a mk1 and mk2.

is it correct that the mk2 has a totally diference dashboard?

Yes. This is one of the main differences besides exterior.
So this is a MK1:

And here a Mk2:

As you can see, there are grave differences in styling.

On the other hand there are also invisible differences like changes with the brakes and ignition. Mk1 still uses a distributor, while Mk2 ignites electronically.

if its a mk2 than it most have a dash that looks like the saxo's

In general it's the same.
The dashboards nearly look the same like 1.1 and 1.0.

yes but is saw 2 ax's on a meeting and they both had a nice dash it was round (it looks like the dash of a saxo) and it was hole different inside. is this a mk2 or just one of the latest years

No, not at all...
MK2 is with round dashboard and Mk1 with the old dash (provided the owner didn't change it

).

okay, so the ax opra the paris is a mk1. cause it has the dash with the courners like my mom's ax from '90.

Luckily it nearly looks the same like the german word.

There shouldn't be any grave problems with rust. If there are, there is probably something wrong.

You will surely find some rust under the battery and behind the headlights and the brake drum (and the area surrounding) is always rusty, but the rest of the body should be free of rust.

i did not drive in it and also not had it on a bridge(in the garage) but i did saw that the hoses for the break(little pipes) where rusty.

does anything else get quickly broken like electric windows or rubbers from the sunroof etc.

Which part of the pipe do you mean? Or where?

Besides the things I mentioned last time I can't think of any particular part which gets quickly broken. At least there is nothing special. Some things will always break, but that mostly depends on the care for the car...

There is a black pipe which runs along the bottom of the car. But a flexible hose connects the pipe and the drum. So this flexible part is quite easy to change, but with the black pipe there's a little more work to do.

i had a little look at the ax yesterday again and the owner said it was a '92

it does have clear fog lights mayby a mix of 1 and 2??

Fog lights are always clear in germany... by law.

There is no association between the color of the fog light and year of production...
But if it is an OdP it should be MK1. Maybe in other countries it has been produced a little longer...

whel it's from your country than it is a '91

have another question, i won't to lower the car. extremly low but i can only find some lowering with 35-40 mm. that's not enough i think

If you need Springs that lower the Car more then 30-40mm
you can buy some 50mm at Musketier (www.musketier.de)
(they are German, maybe we can help U)
or
For Binelux you can buy some 50mm at Cituning (they are Belgium)
Industriezone Klosterveld; Zagerijstraat 25, 2960 St. Job/Brecht;
Tel.: +32 (0) 3 633 30 30 ...

BUT i swear you that you will be have Problems with your oil-sump
if you lower that car more than 40mm.
And also you would have problems with your Back Wheel-Case if
you lower the BackAxle the same as front.

At last someone here in the Forum means that your drive shaft
would be rather broken if you lower to much.
(he has that Problem)
